Detective Division Officer-In-Charge


Captain Thomas Hannon has been a member of the Warwick Police Department since 1994 and serves as the Commanding Officer for the Detective Division.
Captain Hannon’s previous assignments include Professional Standards Division Commander and various positions in the Community Services Division (Traffic, Community Police and Homeland Security), Detective and Uniform Patrol Divisions. He was a 17 year veteran of the department’s SWAT team and served as the team leader for both the police department and the State Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Tactical Team. In addition, he currently serves as the Chairman for the Rhode Island Tactical Officers Association SWAT Standards board.
Captain Hannon is a graduate of the United States Air Force Air War College, Maxwell AFB, AL and holds a Master of Science Degree and Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University, Newport, RI.
Captain Hannon also serves in the Rhode Island Air National Guard, at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and is the Commander of the 143rd Security Forces Squadron. He is a veteran of Operational Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom.
