Major Rick Rathbun has been a member of the Warwick Police Department since 1995 and is currently the Operations Bureau Commander.  He previously served as the Officer in Charge of the First, Second and Third Platoons Uniform Division.  He has also served in the Professional Standards Division, Community Policing Unit, Detective Division, and as the agency accreditation manager.  In 2012 he was appointed as a commissioner on the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission and serves on their Standards Review and Interpretation Committee.  He formerly served as the Officer in Charge of the Crisis Negotiation Team, a component of the department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team.  Prior to becoming a police officer, Major Rathbun served four years in the United States Air Force as Security Policeman.  He holds an Associates of Science Degree in Law Enforcement from the Community College of Rhode Island and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University.
