On March 7, 2014 at 2217 hours, the Warwick Police Department responded to a car and bicyclist accident in the area of 389 Greenwich Ave. The Traffic Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.  The accident involved one vehicle operated by 44 year old Brenda Swenson from Cranston, and a bicyclist, a 63 year old male from 300 Lambert Lind Hwy in Warwick.  The bicyclist was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Warwick Fire Rescue with serious injuries and at last check was listed in critical condition.

The bicyclist’s identity is being withheld pending notification of any next of kin.

The preliminary investigation disclosed that the vehicle was travelling North West on Greenwich Ave. when she struck the bicyclist who was in the right hand travel lane in the area of 389 Greenwich Ave.   At this time, it does not appear that speed or alcohol was factors in the crash by either of the parties and charges are not likely to be filed.
