The Platoon is currently staffed by 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 6 Sergeants, 22

Officers and 4 dispatchers.

The Platoon covers two overnight shifts of equal compliment from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

Third Platoon responded to 13,909 calls for service in 2016, with 9,218 calls being officer initiated.  The Platoon also conducted 4,171 directed patrols, including 40 Community Policing activity calls.

During 2016, the Platoon made 699 arrests, issued 3,137 motor vehicle citations, responded to 15, 972 calls for service and investigated 207 accidents.  179 of the arrests included a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) charge.

The prevalent crime trends that occur during this shift involve the theft of tires and rims from parked vehicles, larcenies from parked vehicles, burglaries of businesses and late night disturbances at hotels, liquor establishments and domestic residences.  Burglary alarms, motor vehicle accidents, DUI’s and self-initiated police contacts make up the bulk of the officers work along with the above crime trends.
