Welcome to the Warwick Police Department

The Warwick Police Department was established in 1921.  Prior to that the villages of Warwick were policed by constables and sheriffs since 1648.  The department currently has 172 sworn police officers supported by 53 civilian employees that provide municipal policing services to a residential population of 81,000.

Warwick Police Department Headlines

Starting on Monday June 22, 2020, the Warwick Police Station will be open to the public. We have reviewed the CDC and Governor's guidelines for reopening and have taken all necessary precautions. When visiting the station, please adhere to the following: 

  • Social Distancing- Stancions have been placed at all walk-up windows to the include Traffic, Records, Licensing, and our Swithboard Operator. Please stay within the stancions and make note of marked social distancing markers on the floor. As with all public encounters, please continue to wear a cloth facial covering.

 

  • Records-  Records will be open Monday through Friday from 8am through 4pm. Requests can also be completed under the "Online Records Request"

 

  • VIN Checks- The Warwick Police Department will begin performing VIN Checks on Tuesday October 6, 2020. VIN checks will be performed on Tuesdays between the hours of 3pm and 7pm as well as on Saturdays between the hours of 9am and 1pm. The cost per VIN Check is $10 cash. No appointment is necessary, but please adhere to CDC guidelines regarding social distancing. Masks will be required. 

 

  • Car Seat Installs- Starting on Monday June 29, 2020, the Warwick Police Department will begin performing car seat installations. Contact 401-468-4343 after June 29th to inquire when the next car seat installation detail will be. Please adhere to the following procedure for car seat installations:

 

  • Do not come to the station if you are feeling ill or have had any symptoms within the past 72 hours
  • When you arrive at the police department, please open all your car doors and allow to air out for 5-10 minutes prior to making contact with an officer
  • Please ensure you are wearing a mask
  • Come into the lobby and either speak with the person at the information booth or pick up the “dispatch phone” to speak with dispatch.  Tell them you are here for a car seat installation
  • You will be asked a series of health questions
  • Try and maintain the 6’ of social distancing.   If you need to get closer to the officer to see more clearly please do so in a safe manner.   Ask the officer if it’s okay to move to a certain position prior to doing so.  Minimize the amount of time in close proximity with the officer within the confined space of the vehicle.  

 

  • BCI Checks- BCI checks will still be performed by appointment only. Please see information below about scheduling an appointment.
