The Warwick Police Department responded to an accident involving a truck and motorcycle on Main Ave., at 0852 hours on May 21, 2013. The Traffic Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
The operator of the motorcycle, Joel Constantineau 27 yrs of age from Reynolds Ave. in Warwick, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Warwick Fire Rescue where he was later pronounced dead. Constantineau was initially identified as being 25 yrs old which was incorrect. The operator of the truck, Sal Biscardi, 58 years of age, from Thrush Rd. in Warwick, was not injured. The initial investigation showed the motorcycle travelling west on Main Ave. and the truck exiting the Shell Gas station northbound attempting to cross over Main Ave. onto Covington Dr. when the collision occurred. There was no passenger on the motorcycle and at this time it does not appear that the operator was wearing a helmet.
Investigators have interviewed the driver of the truck as well as witnesses. At this time, it does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the collision by either of the parties. Based on the preliminary investigation of the crash, the truck operator will be cited for Entering from Private Drive or Road, in violation of RIGL 31-17-5.
Any person with information related to the collision is requested to contact the Warwick Police Department Traffic Division at (401)468-4343.
